I am considering building a 383 stroker with 6" rods. I understand you have to notch the block along the oil pan rail, also grind on the rods for cam clearance or buy a small base circle cam. Are there companys that offer stroker clearanced rods to avoid grinding and buying a small base circle cams. Any other suprises i might need to know before i venture in this direction.

Id use I beam rods. less grinding on pan rail.compared to H beam, check 2 and 6 rods for cam clearance and rod to cylinder clearance on all 8. yes you should be able to get stroker clearanced rods.

pan rail will need a little grinding if you use rods with cap screws instead of rod bolts...

i beam rods will need the top of the rod bolt ground on, as well as the rod a little, its no biggie to do it your self...

but with i beams ive still had to just touch the pan rail a little with a grinder...

Thanks for the input, With stroker clearanced rods does that eliminate a small base circle cam ? Who sells those rods ?
