In the past we have alway bought our Racing Gas at the track. One track has Sunoco Purple, the other has Turbo Blue. I'm not shure of the octane rating of either but the car ran good on both. We have a sponsor that buys the fuel for the car, but at $4 to $4.50 per gallon we don't want to abuse his generosity. Can the average person buy racing fuel by the barrel? Would it be any cheaper? What brand and octane (for a 13.1 motor) would be best? Thanks again for the help!!!

If i remember correct i saw on sunoco website that a 55 gallon drum of purple fuel was $240.00 or somewhere around that price i would suggest if u have a gas supplier close bye ask them to order u some i get my local supplier to order mine i give him 3.28 a gallon for 119 octane i would say the higher octane u could get would be better for that much compression i run 11.2.1 compression on 119 and runs great. thats my 2 cents

Contact Dan Wall at Fuels For Racing. His number is 800-769-7582 or email: Dan is the wholesale supplier of racing fuels for Koch Industry. Leaded and unleaded with various octanes along with pure racing-grade methanol.
Dan will also work with racers to supply bulk quantities at a discount. Ask him about his "$10.dollar coupons".

I suggest you avoid aviation fuel as it is not formulated for racing engines but for airplane engines.

Tell Dan you heard about him from a Jayhawk Racing Journal staff member.

ask around to your fellow racers i nyour area or look in the phone book for fuel/oil distributors.

youll find it for sure in drums somewhere..

i like the fuel sponsor deal i had 4 people buying my fuel at once, that way its a monthly thing and im not committed if they pay me couple grand up front to race every week..

i just told them it was 250 a drum and was paying 230.

they knew if they watched me race 3 times i was coming for more money, no sweat!!!!

I purchased two 55 gallon barrels of Turbo Blue from M&M Racing Equipment(sponsor of this site) for $200.00 a barrel. Sunoco make Turbo Blue, so I dont see much difference in the products. Sunoco's website and Turbo Blue's website I know if you contact Turbo Blue they can tell you the closest distributor.
