someone told me that when you have your heads milled on a sb chevy you should use shorter push rods. is this true?

it really depends on what has been done to the engine. if the bock was decked and the heads were milled a bunch. you probably will need shorter pushrods.
there is a pushrod length checking tool available that is very inexpensive.
you want to use a pushrod length that puts the tip of the rocker arm on the center of the valve tip. ideally, the rocker arm should contact the valve tip a little to the top side of the center of the valve tip(closer to the intake manifold).
this is a lot easier to "show" than to "tell". i'm struggling to put it into words. lol
