In my opinion if you are getting a race cam go for the kit cam/lifters/springs. Also I would buy a cam button I had cam trouble for a while until I found out that my cam was walking forward. To think a 3-4$ part could have saved me hundreds

If your on a budget you should just get the springs you have quickly checked for pressure, Head shops are usually pretty good for this, If they all look good slap em in and go racin buddy.

Rookie, with the cam you have a set of z-28 springs(sealed power#VS739R) should work fine. However, you must make sure that they do not bind. The sell new for around $34.00. Another option is k-motion k700 springs. I have used them with cams up to .560 lift w/ noproblems. They sell for about 65-80 dollars and are stock dia. I think that you should pitch the stock springs.
As for your ballancer us a ballancer puller. This is the only way to remove them. You could borrow one from a friend but, it would be better to buy one.
Good luck.
