Given a standard 350 chevy complete out of a truck. What would you consider the the most important jobs to do to it to make it work on a short dirt oval in a 3000lb car. It must, A: give it as big a performance increase as possible & B: Help keep it reliable. Oh and you are given a budget of just $1500. Sorry no NOS allowed!
Thanks.
Marty.

what are your parameters? aluminum intake? 4 bbl. carb? solid cam and valve springs? headers? i think you could do all of these for $1500.

Well just about anything is allowed so long as it does not involve NOS/Turbo or injection.
Thanks.

headers, mild solid cam & lifters, Z-28 springs, aluminum intake. try the vortech head, it's the best cheap cast iron chevy head out there. a new stock fuel pump should be up to the task with a reworked Q-jet or holley 750 vac. sec. if you can obtain some of the parts used, you will save big. i'd use a new cam, lifters and valve springs though.

good luck.
