We have a pair of later model chevy heads #193 and were wondering if anyone has raced these on a modified with any success. I wanted to put them on a 360 c.i. on alcohol. If it works I plan on doing the usual 2.02/1.6 valves, ***** -in studs etc...
I also plan to put roller springs on them. I am concerned that the design of the intake ports will not work with a big cam at higher rpm's. I know that there is intake issues, but that isn't a big problem.

Thank's for the help...Chuck

The full casting number is 14102193. It is about the most popular head out there now. It came on a 87 and up 350. It has a 1.940 intake valve and what appears to be a tight chamber. It also has a fin under the intake valve, I asume that is to make the mixture swirl. It is pretty much the same as the 191, and the 810.

Thank's...Chuck

In my opinion i dont think they would work that well in a mod if you plan to turn high rpms. In stock form evein with bigger vavles they really only flow well to maybe 4500. I know a street stocker that tried them and had the big vavles and even ported them out and he said they pulled well to 6000 then but still hit a brick wall. A far cry from the stock Vortec heads and especially the Sportsman or Darts that alot of mods run.
