Are you breaking intakes or exhausts? Or both?

According to my catalog, a JR #3 lifts .553 on the exhaust side. That's too close for comfort on a .565 lift spring for me!

I'd be looking to see if you're getting near spring bind. You might have to go to a set of .600 lift springs.

its been both. i ran 1 year without problems then i broke 3 rockers one night....3 weeks later i busted 2 more...brand new rockers. didnt change anything in the motor. we run an open carb track thats a big hp track and run a very large motorcraft carb and turn it 7000. then we run on sat at an imca track turning 6000 with the holley. just seems strange that it started now. maybe just a coincidence? i will hafta see how the cranes hold up. otherwise im going to rollers and i'll skip the imca track!

Get the nitro-carb rockers from Crane. They're high, but probably the last set you'll have to buy.

i thought aout geting those but i opted for the crane ones that are one step down from the nitros (the 79$ ones) they are steel alloy and are hardened....gotta be better than the elgins!!!

Personally, I use Speedpro long slot rockers (1.5 and 1.6) on a .580 lift cam. I've broken studs, but never a rocker. And I turn around 6700 with my IMCA 350 carb.

i have broken both studs and rocker arms. im guessing that for me its whatever decides to go first. maybe i should convince imca to let us run rollers again!! dont think they'd go for that (unless holley comes out with a imca "spec rocker") lol. we'll see how she goes friday. thanks for your help
