Just curios what kind of longevity you guys get out of you coils. We cant seem to get one to last more than half a season. Is this normal? Just lost another one this past weekend while running third in feature. FRUSTRATING

How long can you guys run them.

We are using MSD Blaster 2 coils with a 6AL box. Are there coils that would last longer than these.

Thanks

I lost a race and possibly the championship one year from a coil that was only used 1/2 season, it was a blaster 2 also. I hit the rev chip early that night and think maybe that had somthing to do with it. I did a little research and found that there are 2 blaster 2 coils 1 is for STOCK ignition and the other for msd boxes and the part #s were only 1 # off. After losing that 1 i went to the blaster 3 coils and had no problems. I also pulled the chip out of the box just in case that had somthing to do with it and have had no probs since.

H.E.I.(D.U.I.) coils are epoxy filled as opposed to external mounted oil filled coils. The epoxy allows the coil to run much cooler temperature wise compared to the oil filled coils. In addition, oil filled coils draw about twice as many amps compared to an H.E.I. coil. H.E.I. coils only draw 2 to 3 amps, further reducing the amount of heat. Less heat means more reliability.
