I would like to install ARP (or any other brand) rod bolts in my chevy 350. Are there any "tricks" and do I have to get the big end of the rod resized? I have been told that changing rod bolts will require resizing but I don't see how changing the bolts will alter the position of the cap. There is a $200 claim on the engine so I want to avoid spending $$$. Any advice will be appreciated.

if you install rod bolts you MUST have the rods resized, or at least checked by a machinist, they will be distorted if you just 'hammer' them in yourself-you will be doing more harm than good

I tried this once, a long, long time ago, using all the precautions the magazines had said to. Didn't work then, probably won't now. The knurl on the rod bolts moves metal, and moves itself as it goes in, resulting in a different position of the rod cap. Bad news. ARP claims their Wav-Loc bolts can be changed without a resize, but I wouldn't do it.
