I was just wondering how close is too close with the space between the radaitor and the fan. We went from a block mounted fuel pump to a belt driven, and in doing so we had to run a different fan, and a fan spacer to clear the pump and the mandrel. Right now we have about 1/2 and inch of clearance between the fan and the radaitor. Also we are now running a plastic fan instead of the metal blade fan. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

A half inch is not a problem in my opinion just as long as the fan can't hit the radiator and both the radiator and engine are mounted in a way that they don't "give" in a way that will bring them closer together. With a flex man you might want to bolt it on the engine without the radiator in place, crank the engine and rev it just a little to see how much "drift" in the fanblades there is when the RPM's come up. That way you'll know for sure that your blades won't flex and hit the radiator. It should cool a little better with the blades that close to the fan as well, even without a shroud. Just my opinion.
