Any large bore venturi 2G Rochester can be made to be fast, if the builder does it right.
These carbs were typically found on GMC trucks of the late 60's or early '70's, the 1971 Pontiac 455 motor came with a 2bbl option, and also a good chance of finding one would be off any big block that had a 2bbl (not common to find tho). Late 60's muscle cars only sometimes were found with the large bore on them. This hard-to-find carb is sometimes also referred to as "the school bus carb", since it was at one time found on GMC school buses of the 60's, but many things have to be changed on them when using one that came off a bus.
The baseplates on all 2G's never got any larger than 1.687" and by far, the majority of all 2G's you'll find will have that size baseplate.
Not all 2G carb tops will fit all the large bore (1 3/8") body, however. Pay close attention to the bolt/gasket pattern of the fuel bowl opposite the accelerator pump and throttle side as there are differences there.

Hope this helps, and if you wish to speed your carb hunt up, just email us, PM, or get in touch with us here. We are a builder of Rochesters, Holley, Motorcraft, etc and have them in stock.
