Has anyone had any luck or experience with a factory aluminum Chevy intake?

A guy gave me a GM aluminum four barrel intake that he used to run. he did some machine work to it. he quit racing and just had it in his shop. i havent put it on yet, but he said it is the best intake he ever ran.(and he ran cars for about 30 years.) I am going to try it out in the near future.

We played with one. Machined out the spredbore pattern, milled out the divider plate, and welded closed the emission port in the bottom. Put the manifold on an already strong street stock, and boy what a difference. It was like instant several horsepower. We ended up running it for a couple seasons.
