How do you guys set valves on hydraulic lifter motors? Everyone does it a little different, and I am just trying to get opinions. Thanks.

We always did it with the engine running, back it off until it starts to clatter then tighten it until it stops clattering then go 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn more.

well it depends on whether its a street motor or a race motor...street motor I would do like millerlt3 said ..For a race motor I would set them with a compression guage and get max compression out of each cylinder..

Well, I have no idea what lifters are in there, as I didn't assemble the engine. It is a factory stock engine with hydraulic lifters. Thanks for the help guys.
