So WISSOTA changed the engine rules for modifieds again this year. Now they are allowing roller rockers AND cam in the 'spec motor' which is up to 362 C.I.

My question is - if most everyone runs the full roller 'spec motor', will my 406 with unported bowtie heads built according to section 7.2-C. "0 410 c.i.d. engine that does not require the use of a restrictor plate" be anywhere near competetive? Or should I bust the glass out of Ma's Impala and go Pure Stock?

I just scanned through the rule real quick and I looks like they are just trying to get rid of the 400's. If I read it right it looks like the 362 motor with rollers has a smaller minimum weight than the 410 with stock rockers. Don't make much sense to me

The more I read and hear about this WISSOTA outfit and their rules, the more I respect UMP. The logic behind e-mods is affordable open wheel racing. Cant a few of you go to a promotor and start racing where you dont need a lawyer to read a rule book?

Thanks for your comments, but the question remains.
Will there be a lot of difference between running my 2650 lb Mod with 406 c.i.d 12.5/1 stamped rockers, solid lifters, unported bowties, against 2450 lb cars with 362 c.i.d with roller cam and lifters, unported bowties.
This is on a 3/8 medium banked dirt track. Some nights very tacky, some nights slicker than snot on a doorknob. Mr Hendren?

I know a couple of guys who switched to late models becvause of the rule changes if wissota wants small motors they should make the rules that way. pretty hard to pu 250lbs of lead on a car where you need it and still do it safely!

I wouldn't spend a lot of money becuase their won't be a WISSOTA "A" mod class in a few years anyway...the rule changes they made this year(bert's, rollercams,etc) turned us into underpaid latemodels....honestly the rule changes could cost the average guy another 4-6 grand this year for what? $400 to win..what a joke....there is a ton of guys going to latemodels this year from mods and that isn't good either..if they would change the tire rule to d55's I'd go to a latemodel also......finally to answer your question you'd be silly not to build a'd be within roughly 50 horse of even the most illegal 406 and still 250lbs lighter..
