Leave the floor alone !!!!!! This is a common mistake for a lot of people . Do not touch the floor of the intake or exhaust port ! Instead , you should concentrate on the roof of the port , the bowl , and the adjacent head bolt hole side of the port if your going to do anything . As for pockets , you can open them up a little , but be sure to maintain a venturi ! Another common mistake is to just port straight down off the seat , and this looses flow . You can lay back the short side radius a little , and pick up some air . But not too far , or you'll lose low lift flow , and perhaps find water . The biggest gain you will find , will come from the adjacent intake wall's . You can port right on through the head bolt hole between the two intake port's , and then sleeve the head bolt hole . In the pocket area and the head bolt side of the runner is where you'll find the most gain's for your effort .

Thanks for your reply sdhnc29.I haven't attempted porting into the headbolt hole that far but I can see your point. What do you use for sleeve material and sealant.Proceeding with caution.

We use bronze sleeve's for the head bolt holes . I'll have to ask my dad where he gets them , but I'll post his source for you on this board . As for sealant , we use good old red Loctite . We used to use the green Loctite with a priming agent applied first , but found it difficult to install the sleeve's fast enough before the Loctite went off .

Hey 42,
I blew up a perfectly good (well, maybe not) motor with a set of 041's on it. I lost one head and still have the other, (valve) I sure would like to have another head to go with the one I have. Motor runs better with 2 heads on it yaknow... LOL. Anyway, do you know where I can secure another 041 that is missing a partner?
