Years ago, when we ran the Z28, small od type spring and cheapo cams, we would break some every year, at $30 a set. Now, with more money available, we run $200 sets on radical cam lobes for 2 seasons, pass them down to our sportsman team, who run 'em for 2 more seasons. Then I usually sell 'em to a street guy, and he uses them forever. I guess you get what you pay for. BTW, these are 150lb solid cam springs, not 220lb rollers. A spring that is operated within it's design limits will last a long time, and there are things to look for, besides load at height, that will tell you a spring is giving up. Loss of free length, 'lean', extruded damper, etc.

How much is your engine worth ??????.NEW SPRINGS YEARLY.it only takes one broken spring to trash an engine.Yes i know people have used the old ones that they have had for several seasons but think it only takes one and you are all done.

90% of the engine failures I've seen have been valve train related.

Weak springs will also keep your motor from turning up and run good on the top end. Say if it use to turn 7000 but now you can only get 6200 you need a new set (all esle being good). Someone feel free to correct me if thats wrong.

I have had several drivers who wanted new springs installed at mid-season it puts the snap back into the engine that it had to begin with.We also did this on our Nascar late mod and would always see better lap times made the car better out of the corners. If the Z28 spring is close to a speed pro vs739r spring something like 110lbs at 1.700 it would work great for a hyd .460lift cam tell me more about your cam?

I also must stress how you MUST always check for guide to retainer clearance and also for coil bind.
