we used to use cramac with energy reliese in our kart motors can't aford to run it in the car tho i run valvoline 20/50. i was thinking of going to a lighter weight tho i read an artical in a mag a while back about oils and they said that in a motor like mine basicly stock that 30 weight would work better then 50 and make more power because it takes less to pump it thru the system it also said that you shouldn't run synthetic in dirt cars because it doesn't catch as much dirt and stuff as regular does

We use Mobil 1 15w/50 in our gas engines , and Royal Purple 21 in our Alky engines . For the guy's who can't afford the synthetic , we recommend Kendall 20w/50 . Out of all the synthetics , the Royal Purple and the Mobil 1 have the highest load carrying capacities . As for standard oil , the Kendall has the highest load ratings , followed by Valvoline , and Castrol . The Mobil 1 is not compatible with Alky , unless you can find the F series and want to pay an arm and a leg for it . But the Royal Purple is completely compatible with Alky . In fact , Alcohol will completely evaporate out of the oil within a day or two after racing .

i use castrol or vavoline with no problem, 20-50w
if the engine's a bit tired i add an additive to it like stp or marvel's.

also regardless of what oil i use i always change it after 3-4 nites of racing because of the alky that gets in it.

When running gas I use Amsoil Series 2000 20-50w, and when running Alcohol I use Valvoline 40w. I've never had a problem so I'll just keep using what I always use.

Steve, why not the Royal Purple in a gas engine?

6pack ,

We use it in our gas engines as well , but I have found no performance advantage over the Mobil 1 . Dollar wise , the Mobil 1 is cheaper and easier for most people to get , so this is why I suggest using it on gas .

For breakin I use Valvoline 20W50.

After breakin I use ONLY Royal Purple. I have ran both the 21 & 41 and I prefer the 41 myself. Like sdhnc29 had said, no alky in the oil. I took a chance and wanted to see how the oil would hold up, so I ran it for seven nights and it still looked and smelled good. VERY GOOD OIL!!!!

I always ran Kendall GT-1 in my race motors when i ran mods. I will probably use the same now that i am back in street stocks. Never had any problems with it and saved our motors mor than once.

Started using Cramac 15w 40.....The oil seems thin, but doesn't ever lose pressure like a normal oil or some synthetics. Something I have noticed also...is after races, when an engine has been run hard, it acts a little tired......haven't seen it with this oil at all. I go out with over 50 lbs of pressure, I come back in, still the same pressure......doesn't change. I dont know why it works the way it does, but very, very happy with it. It is more expensive, but durability and longevity with Methanol seems to be very good.

We run the Racing 50 Valvoline in our motors. We usually change the oil every 2 to 3 races. The internals of the engines are always spotless when we tear them down at season's end. How often do you guys change yours??

Am I the only one on this board old enough to remember D-A oil? Thats all I've used in 30 years, and have never had an oil related failure in an engine.

We break the motor in on 10-30 oil then we go to straight 50 Kendall. We put about 12 runs on it and never did change the oil or lose oil pressure.
