What is the easiest and most effective way of matching the ports on an intake to those on the head (gasket match).

Thanks

I have never done this myself, but I have heard how some people do it. Take your intake gaskets and bolt them to your intake. With a black permanent marker paint the metal that shows in the gasket. Then you can see exactly what it takes to match the gasket. You may want to see if anyone else agrees before you go ahead, though. Good luck.

Take an undersized intake gasket , tape it to the intake side of your head , then cut the ports of the gasket to fit your head exactly . Once you've done this , then put a little dab of glue on your intake manifold , then bolt it on the engine . Give it a few minutes for the glue to set up , pull the intake off , and the gasket will come with it . Your gasket will be stuck to the intake , and now you have perfect guidelines for port matching your intake . You can leave that gasket on the intake , or simply scribe your ports , and remove the gasket . Just be sure to take your time ! Once you've ported your intake out to the gasket or scribe lines , you will have perfect port alignment ! This is the simplest , yet most effective way to do this .
