the best way to find out octane is to buy a racing fuel and forget about octane as most are at least 108 unless you want to run 100LLairplane fuel which is about 2 bucks a gal Rick

Don't get fooled by octane numbers. Manufacturer's such as SONOCO go by two different octance ratings for the same fuel. You have 108 racing gas, but that is 108 reseachable octane (what they can pull out in a lab under ultimate conditions). Then you have usable octane which may be 100 or 101 octane for the same fuel( what your engine can actually use on Saturday night). AND HOW SURPRISING IS IT TO KNOW THAT CHEMICAL COMPANIES WOULD LEAD YOU TO BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE ACTUALLY USING 108 OCTANE IN YOUR RIDE, when it is actually 100 octane!!!!! So if you find a Saturday night concoction that will raise pump gas from 92 octane to 99 or 100 octane for a 1/10th of the money then believe that it can be done.

Sold sun racing fuel for years.Their octane # that are advertised are by the R+M/2 method just like pump gas is figured.Sun standered or CAM2 the purple stuff is 111 octane by this method.I have seen some dealers sell other stuff calling it sun or turbo blue and it wasn't.Buy from smeone you trust. The good stuff usually cost around $4.00 per gallon. If it's cheaper there is probably a reason.
