I have a chevy 283 block that I was going to rebuild but the crank counter weights are hitting the bottom end of the cylinder bore.
The crank #'s says its for a 265, 283, 302; but not sure of the years for either. What can I do to get the engine together?

how about casting number off the block? That would be the place for use to start.
