Anyone had a problem with bending these? I am looking at using some in claimer motors wanted to get your input. Much lighter than 350 rods.

Hey Jammin. There are guys running those in their street engines here in Columbus, MS. These are stock all steel flat top engines with open hydraulic cams and 2brl carbs in 3200lb cars. Couple of my friends that run them say it really helps on getting the revs up quicker. Haven't heard of any giving way under loading. Hope that gives you some insite.

What about putting 305 rods in a 400, do you think they would bend, break or explode?

I have been running these for a while now in this 11-1 355 and they havent broken yet....I just made sure I put good rod bolts in them before I even started on them.

We built a 383 for a racer for cheap and used 305 rods cause they are alot more common than 350s around here. The rods lasted longer than the rest of the motor. I've got a set in my street driven 10-1 Camaro and my dads got a set in his 383 9.5-1 Pickup. So not everybodys afraid to run them.Might as well just go ahead and use the 305 crank too.
