What are everyones tips for winterizing an alcohol run motor. I have never had one before and now I do. I want it to start right up next year so what all do I need to do to the motor, carb and fuel system. The motor and carb has 9 races on it so I am not anticipating any major rebuild, but I will check everything out. Also, what kind of shelf life does alky have. Do I just need to throw out the half a drum I have in the shop since I wont be racing until next year. Any input here is appreciated. Thanks.

here is what i do
drain cell , lines,pump,carb
wipe the tank dry, blow out the lines and spray wd40 in them, same for pump and carb.
as far as the half drum you have just use it a little at a time with fresh stuff in the spring till its gone. for the engine take the plugs out and spray some oil in the cylinders and turn the engine over by hand to lube them for the winter. this should help you out.

I also like to back off the tension on the valve springs. Don't forget to elevate your chassis to take the weight off your springs.
