Unfortunately, up north it is already starting to get cold and its almost time to put the car away for the winter. My question is what does everyone do with their carbs (alky) as far as cleaning and storing? It will probably be 6-7 months before I have the carb on again.

This is my first year in mods and running alcohol. When I purchased my car the previous owner left the alcohol in the car for over a year and made a real mess of the fuel lines and carb. What can be done to make sure the fuel system is in good shape for next season?

Drain it as best ya can, lube everything with WD40 and then seal it up. Its alky vapor and air mixing that causes the problem. If you could lower the whole car into a vat of alky and let it sit; it'd be fine. Gotta keep the air out.

so what you are saying is to just dip the hole carb in a bucket of alky and leave it over the winter.

Well, I guess ya could if you wanted too. You'd need a bucket for the carb, another for the fuel pump, and one for the fuel log, gee.. the filter too....and the lines ...and the..... Thats a lot of buckets sitting around the shop. One big vat and put the whole car in it, saves takin' all the stuff apart too!

Don't forget the fuel filter, they get that lovely powdery crap in them and you will go crazy on why the thing won't run come spring.
