Last week our motor ran good then in hotlaps this week it started out missing as soon as I jumped on the gas. #5 plug on a 406 was gapless and it didn't look smashed but something had to hit it. Valve adjustment was still good, we pit a new plug in and it ran great the rest of the night. Does anybody know what could have happened?

If nothing went through the engine , then the piston had to have touched the spark plug . I would make sure that you index your plugs from now on . It does not take much to close an electrode .
