The engine loads up at idle. I can not close the butterflys enough already drilled holes in them. I am up to 1/8 inch.I set the mixture *****s with a vacum gauge, the most I have is 6 inches at idle. I am using the weakest power piston spring that comes in Eldebrock tuning kit. This problem is killing off the corner performance. Please Help! Thanks!

PBR, I was a having a similar problem with my q-jet. This may or may not help, but I kept having a problem with the plugs looking wet and fouling out. I thought it was the carb. What I found was that I had to short of a reach spark plug. Changed plugs and had to put new butterflies in carb with smaller holes, now it runs great. Just something else to look at. Good Luck. Thanks DEEDDUDE. I am running double humps. I tried Autolite 303's now I running the 75's wich are hotter with a projected tip with the gap set at 35. I have also tried the AC R43's with no luck either. I think I am allright on the plug reach. Any suggestions would be great on plugs or carb ! Thanks alot!

PBR, I run camel humps and I was running the autolite 353's, which were to short. Now I run the autolite 24's and 25's I think the 25's are hotter. No problem fouling now. I bought a book by Doug Roe on Rochester carbs. and did some of the mods. I don't know much about them just rebuilt mine it seems to run real good. I just mentioned the plug situation because I was having the same problem. I kept looking at the carb. as the problem. It wasn't. Good luck. Deed
