Ive burned out 2 MSD coils in 3 nights. They seem to run fine then towards the end of the main the car starts to miss when not on the gas till it finally simply quits running. After it cools down it will fire up and run ok. When checking the positive side to the output, it checks around 12,000 ohms when new and once they develop a problem around 5000 or so ohms. Anyone got any ideas on whats causing these coils to burn up? Ive raced 10 years with MSD coils and ignitions systems with never a problem, now 2 coils in 3 nights tells me somethings not right. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you changed spark plug brand or heat range? What about, spark plug gap? Make sure your gap is what you think it is. Too much of a gap will cause coil to overload, overheat and possibly crack.
