On a sbc, on the main & rod bearing clearances what are the acceptable tolerances to you when you are putting the motor together. I have heard many different numbers. Thanks

the bearing clearances depend on what the motor will be used for. street, 1/4 mile, or circle track. r.p.m and torque determine clearances. please explain a little more about your engine.

We run all our circle track motors at .0025 (mains and rods with 50w oil) and never had any problems. Don't use plastigage to check clearances, it is not accurate.
