Just wanna hear what types of oil that everyone uses and if you are running synthetics or regular. I use Castrol in most of my engines......20-50 most of the time....I have to usually change it about every 2nd weekend with alky.

I use Mobil 1 15-50 and run it for 4 consecutive events prior to changing it. Reason being in our stock class we cannot run oil coolers and if we get to going green to checkerds my oil temps will peak out over 310 deg. Engine builder says conventional oils won't take this very long but OK with synthetic. Otherwise all of the other cars at our track use Penzoil 25-50 conventional.

We run Valvoline 50wt. We change oil every other race, wether we race twice a week or once a week. We pull our motors down every eight races, have ran Valvoline since day one with no problems. When motors are pulled apart everything that runs in oil has a good coat of oil, nothing is unlubricated. We run IMCA Modified on alky.

What is the straight weight oil like when the motor is cold? I know we start racing in March/april. Still cold enough for a winter jacket at night.

Hey Viper000. Do you know what the difference is between Valvolines regular 20-50 and the racing 20-50 besides the price? Wondering if it was worth the 70 cents a quart to use the racing oil.

You guys may think me nuts, but I have run Chevron Delo 400 50wt with STP additive in an alcohol 14 to mtr. with no oil related problems.Engine tear down mid year and end of season. Usually 30 to 35 nights in a season.Oil change every 2nd race.
I belive any good oil will do a good job if maintained correctly.

i run havoline 20-50 and have for 5 years now. i change oil after each sat night of racing . all my friends say that i dont need to change it that much but i've had a lot less engine failure than those boys have. we all run the 3tc toyota motors here in alabama and they turn some rpms and i think clean oil is a key to long motor life.
