I am in need of some advice. I race bombers in Hawaii. I been racing for just about 1 month. I want to know if anyone has some advice on how to setup my car to make it faster so that I can win some races. My car is a 1979 malibu with a 305 engine,350 tranny and 7.5 rear end with 3.70 gears. My biggest problem is my car is just to slow especialy in the corners. I recently instaled a set of 1.94 camel back heads but I really felt no difference in the power. My car takes the corners well in low gear but it revs out in the middle of the straightaway. And then I shift it into second gear but then the motor dies and I have to down shift back to low gear coming into the turn in order to get the car to turn. If I try to take the turn in second the power is dead and the car just pushes up to the wall.Any help with the size of motors, tire pressures, tire sizes, and gear ratio you guys run might be of help to me. The funny part is I took all of my friends setup from his car that he used to run last season, and his car used to win alot of races, but even with the same exact type of car and setup,my car just seems like a dog,but his car used to be fast so I cant understand. At first I thought maybe my motor doesn't have enought power but thats why I changed the heads to get a little more horses. The motor runs clean and doesnt smoke so I see no reason for it to have not enough power. So please help me.Our rules in Hawaii for the bomber are a bone stock engine but I am willing to cheat alittle. Also would a little bit bigger cam than stock give me more power over the stock one. because I have a crane cam:260/272dur and 427/454 lift cam.could I get more power if I used this cam? Keep in mind that I have a completly stock 305.

for one thing you should not need to shift gears while racing you may need to find different gears for the rearend so you dont have to shift it
