Heres' mine. This is the night that the family was comming to watch. We were getting ready to leave, my wifes car won't start. She rides with my uncle. 10 miles from the track my tow rig breaks down in the middle of the highway. Drive 20 min.back home to get my friends truck. Finally we get to the track, bust our buts to get ready. Waitng in line for hotlaps, I lose a contact lens(I'm blind as a bat!). Ever try to drive with one eye closed? Then to top it off, I rolled tires of the rim in the heat and feature.

I'm sure they will get worse, but for now it's when the hood flew up in my face in the heat and later running out of gas with 2 laps to go. Learning the hard way.

Went out for test and tune day and froze up a ford 9" at about 4500rpm. The result of that was blown reaend, tore up axels, bent drive shaft, alum(dont use one now)bellhousing exploded, trans, clutch, and assorted pieces came through the floor.Just basicly everthing from the back of the block to the brake drums was bent, broke, or missing in action.
Here is the real kicker. In our haste to get ready we forgot to lube the rear gear set. They seem to work so much better with lube in them.

Mine was a practice date. Track was real tacky and crew had tires set for a dry track. came thru corner sideways and tires grabbed , nailed that big ole tractor tire in the endfield (towed off). Then went to take it back out to see how it would drive and ran out of gas in the staging area. Pushed back to pit and had to get out and put the gas in (crew was nowhere to be found). Got back to staging area and by the time it was my turn, the right front had gone flat.

Maybe I need to amend my entry to Saturday night (5/18/02). Man it was a miserable night for me. http://pub7.bravenet.com/forum/fetch.php?id=9870180&usernum=540556421

The track was great on my night of bad luck. I had won the heat race and the trophy dash, and was going for a sweap that night, I was in first place, when my hood popped up and nowhere to see, I just hung my head out the window and kept driving stayed in the lead for 2 laps till I hit the inside tire, came around to the hot pits, got the hood down and still managed to finish in 5th place. But there went my 3 wins for the night. Still had fun tho.

If you look in the pure stock photos on this site you will see the guy in the pond. We had to follow him home from the track (Penn Can in Pa.), water and mud still coming out of the car an hour and a half after the race was over.

About 20 years ago while loading the racecar I ran over my dog!on the way to the races I got a speeding ticket!!At the gas station about 2 miles from the track,I went in to pay for my gas and there was an armed robbery in progress, those jerks took my wallet and all my money!!!when I finally got to the track,I had missed qualifing, and had to start on the tail of the heat, got a tire cut down, and finished last!!!!In the semi-feature I finished far enuff up to get in the feature, but got another tire cut down after the checker{same driver as before}!!!!!Started in the last row in the feature, got up to 10th place, then the tranny went out!!!!!!Went to get my starting money to find the track decided to deduct my pit passes from my payoff rite then{stolen wallet},I owed the track $24.00,so I left to go home!!!!!!!Had a flat on the hauler, and was putting the spare on{got lucky it was'nt flat}when a drunk driver sideswiped the hauler, and knocked it off the jack, and took off the drivers door in the process it turned out to be the same jerk who cut down my tires at the track!!!!!!!!When I finally made it home,I ran over my sons bicycle laying in the driveway!!!!!!!!!And last but not least I was locked out of the house, and my wife had gone to her mothers for the weekend!!!!!!!!!!! Ain't life grand!!Are we havin' fun yet???Every time I remember this I wantta
