Sprints this season at Bellmead BELLMEAD, Texas (Jan. 31) - I.M.C.A.-sanctioned Sprint Cars join the regular race program once a month this sea-son at Bellmead Speedway. The winged class has been added to the card the second Saturday night of every month, starting Feb. 8 and running through Sept. 13 for a total of eight appearances during the 2003 point season. "I have had a lot of people who own Sprint Cars calling and telling me they want to run 'em at Bellmead," second-year promoter Philip Harmon said. "I said OK, we'll try 'em once a month." Most of those drivers haven't been on the 3/8 mile track in several years and Harmon is confident they'll find the dif-ferent configuration to their liking. "The track has higher banking now and turns two and three are wider. They should like that," he said. "We had some out practicing here last week and one of them told me the track was just awesome." Bellmead also features the I.M.C.A. Sunoco Modified and Stock Car divisions. Weather permitting, the track opens tomorrow night. Points races will be held February through August and Sept. 13-27.
