Saturday night, August 17 presented by AXA Advisors, LLC. The event will
include the Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars, Big-Block Modifieds, New
Castle School of Trades Sportsman Modifieds, and the Butterfield's Pub Stock

For the second consecutive year, the total purse for the "Sprint
Slug-Out" has been increased. This year's event will spotlight a 30-lap
sprint car feature now paying $3,000 to-win, $225 to-start. "We've gotten
excellent support on this event since we started it back in 1999," said
owner Vicki Emig. "It's a nice show for our local drivers making it the
richest non-sanctioned sprint car event in western Pa. in 2002."
Jimmy Hawley topped a 46-car field in 1999 worth $2,000. Tommy
Burns, Jr. won the second annual event in 2000 over a 33-car field. Last
year, 37 cars assembled on August 18 before the event was rained out.
Hawley backed up his 1999 win by winning the $2,500 to-win September 8
make-up feature event.
The Big-Block Modifieds will have another increased purse,
non-sanctioned event. Their 25-lap feature will pay $1,300 to-win, $125 to
take the green flag. The New Castle School of Trades Sportsman Modifieds
will also race 25 laps in their feature for $500 to-win. The Butterfield's
Pub Stock Cars will be in action for 20 laps for $500 to-win in one of their
twelve special events of 2002.
With just three points-paying events remaining heading into
Saturday, August 10, current point leaders are Troy Preston (West Middlesex,
Pa.) Sprint Cars, Bob Dorman (Stockton, Ny.) Big-Block Modifieds, Steve
Young (Grove City, Pa.) Sportsman Modifieds, and Shaun Hooks (New Castle,
Pa.) Stock Cars.
At the conclusion of the event, G&G Auto Outlet will present the
fifth "Gladiator Series" Demolition Derby of the season. This seven-event
series has Andy Bordt of Sewickley, Pa. atop the standings with two wins.
Others winners have been Justin Pakulniewicz and Patrick Heckman.
