American Sprint Car Series comes to North Central Arkansas Speedway!
Lonnie Wheatley, ASCS Editor - TULSA, Okla. (July 22, 2002) - The United
Expressline American Sprint Car Series national tour is set for a pair of
races this upcoming weekend. On Friday night, July 26, the tour makes its
second stop of the season at North Central Arkansas Speedway in Yellville,
AR. From there, the series moves on to West Plains (MO) Motor Speedway for
its only appearance of the season on the 3/8 mile red clay oval on Saturday
night, July 27.
Two-time ASCS national champion Tim Crawley of Mabelvale, AR, who was
victorious in the June 12 event on the 3/8-mile North Central Arkansas
Speedway, leads the way into the weekend, as he holds a 50 point lead over
Michael Dupuy of Amite, LA. Defending series champion Zach Chappell of
Talala, OK, is currently third in points, just ahead of the series' initial
champion, Garry Lee Maier, of Cimarron, KS. Other top national drivers
expected to be on hand over the weekend include Toby Brown, Wayne
Pennington, Darren Stewart, A.G. Rains, Mike Ward and leading Brodix Rookie
of the Year contender Cody Branchcomb.
On Friday night at North Central Arkansas Speedway, Snappymart Stores will
give away free patriotic sports mugs to the first 750 fans entering the
gates. Three pairs of tickets to the upcoming NASCAR Busch series race at
Memphis, TN, will be given away during the night, as well as a pair of
tickets to Talladega.
Yellville's North Central Arkansas Speedway is located two miles east of
