UDTRA 2003 RULES MEETING SET FOR FRIDAY MORNING AT DIXIE SPEEDWAY
WOODSTOCK, GA - United Dirt Track Racing Association officials have
announced there will be a 2003 Rules and Organizational Meeting outside the
pit gate at Dixie Speedway on Friday from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. A selected
group of drivers, their car owners and crew chiefs, along with chassis
manufactures have been invited to attend this meeting.
The first order of business at this meeting will be for the drivers, car
owners, and crew chiefs to nominate and vote for a representative from each
group that will serve on an advisory board during the 2003 season. This
advisory board will work closely with UDTRA officials to address and resolve
different issues that may come up during the 2003 season.
"During the meeting we attended in Knoxville, TN in August, we all agreed
everyone needed a better line of communications, and everyone agreed to meet
again at Dixie Speedway before the Hardee's Shootout," UDTRA President Mike
Swims said. "We feel that by creating this advisory board represented by
driver, a car owner, and a crew chief, we will take a big step in
accomplishing this goal that will benefit everyone involved."
UDTRA officials will invite drivers, their car owners and crew chiefs that
have competed in at least 60 percent of the UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series events
for one of the past three season and past series champions. The drivers
invited to the meeting are: Skip Arp, Rick Aukland, Shannon Babb, Brian
Birkhofer, Scott Bloomquist, Steve Boley, Clayton Christenberry, Ray Cook,
Rick Eckert, Terry English, Dennis Erb Jr., Steve Francis, Bill Frye, Mike
Gault, Marshall Green, Joe Izzo, Dewayne Kiefer, Randy Korte, Mark Kraus,
Jimmy Mars, Dale McDowell, Donnie Moran, Billy Moyer, Billy Ogle Jr., Earl
Pearson Jr., Bill Reed, Dan Schlieper, Steve Shaver, Clint Smith, Freddy
Smith, Shane Tankersley and Wendell Wallace.
Competitors that do not meet the 60 percent requirement for the meeting
also invited to observe the meeting.
Once the UDTRA Advisory Board has been elected, the board and UDTRA
officials will begin discussions on rules and race procedures for the 2003
season. The board and UDTRA officials will also set dates and times for
future meetings to discuss other series business that includes scheduling
and point fund payout.
"UDTRA will also be organizing a similar meeting in the near future for
track operators and promoters to elect a Promoter representative to the
Advisory Board," Swims said. "At this meeting, we will have a work shop
format to discuss ways the series can help promoters with their events
through marketing and public relations."
