ATVA Grand National Event coming to Benton, Mo.
The Auto Tire and Parts Racepark in Benton, MO will host a championship event in the Maxxis Grand National ATV Series. The AMA/ATVA Sanctioned event will place host to the top-name riders in the national four-wheeler touring series. The three-day event will be the first of its kind in the area and one of only six national events to be run in the United States and will take place August 23, 24, and 25.
On Friday the track will host the Shortrack Nationals with the headlining event being the Pro class which will pay $1,000 to win. The Maxxis Grand National ATV Shorttrack Nationals event will utilize the 3/8th-mile dirt oval. The #1 plate will also be handed out to the National Shortrack champion for all classes competing. Speeds on the 3/8th-mile gumbo oval track will reach in excess of 90 mph.
The following night the racepark will host the TT Road Course National event. The road course will use a combination of the 3/8th oval track along with the infield of the track, which currently has the stadiacross track. The design of the road course will have the races at one point go outside of the track and will also contain several jumps. The course will feature a combination of high-speed straight-aways and cornering. The Pro racers will be competing for a $10,000 purse on Saturday evening. The $25,000 quads that race on Saturday night will also reach speeds up to 90 mph on the TT roadcourse.
The final day of the event will feature Amateur competition finals. Local racers and national event riders will compete on Sunday.
Racers that compete on the circuit include National champions and factory backed riders such as Tim Farr, Shane Hitt and Mike Walsh which all compete in the Pro divisions. The three drivers are National renowned racers that race in AMA/ATVA television events on ESPN and the Speed Channel.
Sikeston racer Bobby Couch who is among the national leaders in the Amateur divisions of the Shortrack and TT Road course will also be competing in the event. Another area racer Bethany Clayton will be gunning for the Amateur Women’s championship on Sunday. Clayton currently sits second in the National Standings while Couch is first in Shortrack and second in TT Road Course.
