6/29/02-Persistance does pay off!! This was the general concensus at Ronnie Moran's Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville Ohio after many weeks of track surface problems has plauged and haunted the crew in mastering the preparation process to keep it smooth and dust-free.
A smooth surface and dust-free conditions greeted fans and drivers for the Mid-Season Championship races and gave fans a preview of what to expect for the July 3rd UDTRA Late Model show. Moran and crew added over 120 new truckloads of new clay starting last Monday and worked the track all week to get into top notch shape for the Mid-Season Championship Races.
"We tried some new clay early in the season and it just did not work for us," Moran stated. "We had grey clay put on the track last fall and this past spring but it just has not worked out to be the best clay to use. I and my crew here at Muskingum County Speedway apologize to fans and drivers for the conditions they have endured in the past weeks but have never given up in beating this problem with the dust and rough conditions. We appreciate all of the support they have given us," Moran added.

Racing continues with a special appearance of the UDTRA Late Models in the 2nd Annual Budweiser sponsored 'Y-City 50' event that will see the high-powered stock car drivers returning from racing in Nebraska, making their first Ohio appearance for the 2002 racing season, at Muskingum County Speedway on Wednesday July 3rd. A spectacular fireworks display that rivals any will be presented at approximately 10 PM.
This special late model event, with the traveling organization based in Atlanta Georgia, will give fans another chance to experience the power of 24 late models in the main event as they put forth their best, with over 700 horsepower under the hood from each car, clawing at the track surface as they duel for the top spot that will pay the winner $10,000! AMRA Modifieds, Street Stocks and the Pure Stocks will run as support divisions with the top 20 in points in feature events only.
