7-RACE SPRING MIDWEST TOUR BEGINS ON MONDAY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

WOODSTOCK, GA - The United Dirt Track Racing Association Pro DirtCar Series
hits the road for the 2nd Annual Spring Midwest Tour that will feature seven
different events between May 13 and June 1.

Winston Cup star Ken Schrader of Fenton, MO will join the UDTRA Pro DirtCar
Series traveling pros for two events of the UDTRA Spring Midwest Tour.
Schrader will compete at the Dakota State Fairgrounds Speedway in Huron,
SD
on May 20, and at Macon Speedway in Macon, IL on May 27.

The UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series will open the Spring Midwest Tour at a new
venue, Kankakee Motor Speedway in Kankakee, IL this Monday night with a
50-lap $10,000-to-win main event. The pit gate opens at 3 p.m., the
grandstand gates open at 4 p.m., with hot laps set for 6:30 p.m., and time
trials scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

Going into the Spring Midwest Tour, the 1999 UDTRA Champion Dale McDowell
of Rossville, GA leads Defending UDTRA Champion Rick Eckert of York, PA
by
26 points in the UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series point standings. McDowell has
two
wins in the first 10 events of the 2002 UDTRA season, while Eckert is still
looking for his first win.

Second through fourth in the point standings are separated by just 11
points. Jimmy Mars of Elk Mound, WI is third in points, nine points behind
Eckert, and Steve Francis of Ashland, KY is fourth, two points behind Mars.
Both Mars and Francis have one UDTRA win apiece this season. Four-time
UDTRA Champion Scott Bloomquist is fifth in points with two wins.

Dan Schlieper of Pewaukee, WI is sixth in points, followed by 1997 UDTRA
Champion Billy Moyer of Batesville, AR. Just 36 points separate eighth
through 11th in the points chase. Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL
sits
in the eighth spot, with Donnie Moran of Dresden, OH in ninth, 16 points
behind Pearson.

Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC is in the tenth and final Winner's Circle spot,
seven points behind Moran. The 1996 UDTRA Champion Freddy Smith of
Knoxville, TN is in the 11th spot, just 13 points behind Cook.

Randy Korte of Highland, IL will return to race in his home state in the
12th points position, and Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, IA will see UDTRA
on
his home turf from the 13th position in points.

A tight battle for the Lucas Oil Rookie of the Year points lead will
continue on the Spring Midwest Tour. Shane Tankersley of Morganton, GA
leads the $10,000 Lucas Oil Rookie of the Year point standings by 58 points
over Mark Kraus of Stratford, WI. Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, TN is third
in the Lucas Oil Rookie points, 14 points behind Kraus.

The Holiday Inn in Bourbonnais, IL will be the Official UDTRA Host Hotel
for
the Kankakee Motor Speedway event. The Holiday Inn will be offering UDTRA
fans and competitors a special discount rate of $74.70 per night. To make

Kankakee Motor Speedway, a 1/3-mile high-banked clay oval, is located 1
mile

The next stop on the UDTRA Spring Midwest Tour will be the annual visit
to
the big half-mile at West Liberty Raceway in West Liberty, IA on Wednesday
night for a 50-lap $10,000-to-win main event. The pit gate opens at 12
noon, the grandstand gates open at 4 p.m., hot laps begin at 6 p.m., and
time trials are scheduled for 6:45 p.m.

The UDTRA Official Host Hotel for the West Liberty Raceway event is the
Sheraton Iowa City Hotel in Iowa City, IA. The Sheraton is offering UDTRA
fans and competitors a special discount rate of $69 per night. To make

Eckert is the defending UDTRA race champion at West Liberty Raceway. The
track is located just south of the intersection of U.S. Highway 6 and State

A return visit to the high-banked 1/3-mile clay oval at Eagle Raceway in
Lincoln, NE will be the third and fourth events of the UDTRA Spring Midwest
Tour.

On May 17, the UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series will battle in a 40-lap
$7,000-to-win main event. The May 18 program will feature the
$10,000-to-win McCarthy-Hotentot-Siebler Heating and Air Conditioning 75
in
front of the SPEED Channel cameras. Eckert is also the defending champion
of this event.

The Villager Best Western Hotel in Lincoln, NE is the Official UDTRA Host
Hotel for the Eagle Raceway events. The Villager Best Western Hotel is
offering UDTRA fans and competitors a special discount rate of $59 per

For the third straight season, the UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series will travel
to
Huron, SD for a $10,000-to-win 50-lap main event at the historic Dakota
State Fair Speedway half-mile on May 20. Wendell Wallace of Batesville,
AR
is undefeated in UDTRA competition at the Dakota State Fair Speedway, having
won two in a row.

The Holiday Inn Express, located on the south side of Huron, SD on State
Road 37, is the Official UDTRA Host Hotel for this event. The Holiday Inn
Express is offering UDTRA fans and competitors a special discount rate of

The pit gate opens at 12 noon, the grandstand gates open 5:30 p.m., hot
laps
are set for 6:30 p.m., and time trials are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The
Dakota State Fair Speedway is located just south of U.S. Highway 14 on the

Another first time venue for the UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series will be the
"Mighty" Macon Speedway in Macon, IL for the $10,000-to-win Featherlite
Trailers 100 on May 27. The tight 1/5-mile clay oval will see the nation's
top dirt late model drivers competing in tight quarters.

The pit gate will be open during the evening on May 26, and the grandstand
gates open at 4 p.m. on May 27. Hot laps are scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
followed by time trials at 7:30 p.m. Macon Speedway is located on the North

The final stop for the UDTRA Spring Midwest Tour will be at Florence
Speedway in Union, KY for the $20,000-to-win Bluegrass Nationals 100 on
May
31-June 1. Bloomquist won the UDTRA event at Florence Speedway last season.

UDTRA DIRTY THURSDAY RETURNS TO SPEED CHANNEL ON MAY 23 AT 11 P.M.: The
UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series Jim Barna Log Systems 50 from Scenic Raceway in
Oneida, TN will be the next event featured on UDTRA "Dirty Thursday" on
SPEED Channel on May 23 at 11 p.m.

SOME INTERESTING UDTRA STATS: Some interesting statistics have surfaced
after the first ten events of the 2002 UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series season.

No driver that has won a fast time honor has gone on to win that event.
Steve Shaver of Parkersburg, WV, Francis and Eckert each have two fast time
honors this season.

UDTRA point leader McDowell has drawn an average of 55 in the 1 to 100
draw
for qualifying spots, and his average qualifying effort is 11th. Eckert's
average draw is 31, and his average qualifying effort is 7th.

Of the top five drivers in the UDTRA point standings, Mars is the best
on
the draw, averaging 29, and his average qualifying effort is 9th. Francis
has an average draw of 45, and he is best in average qualifying effort with
a 6th. Bloomquist has averaged the highest in the draw with a 63, and his
average qualifying effort is 12th, which ranks fifth.
