LANCASTER ADDS SECOND SHOW ON 2002 UDTRA SCHEDULE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
WOODSTOCK, GA - United Dirt Track Racing Association officials have
announced an additional $7,000-to-win event for the UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series
at Lancaster Motor Speedway in Lancaster, SC on April 19 to go with a
$10,000-to-win event on the 1/2-mile clay oval on April 20. For the UDTRA
Pro DirtCar Series, the $85,000 weekend will be a return to its roots.
The first-ever UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series event was held at Lancaster Motor
Speedway on May 3, 1990, when the series was called the Hav-A-Tampa Series.
The 1996 UDTRA Champion Freddy Smith of Knoxville, TN won that event.
The series returned to Lancaster Motor Speedway on May 2, 1991 when Buck
Simmons was the winner. Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN won the last
UDTRA event held at Lancaster Motor Speedway on April 30, 1992.
"This will be a homecoming of sorts, and we are excited about returning
the venue where this whole thing began 12 years ago," Swims said. "A lot
history has taken place between that first race and today. Freddy Smith
Buck Simmons are in the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame, and I'm sure
Ronnie Johnson will be there someday as well. The fans in Lancaster will
now also get to see a whole new generation of dirt late model superstars."

Lancaster Motor Speedway is located 2.8 miles north of the S.R. 9 by-pass
U.S. Highway 521.
This two-day show at Lancaster Motor Speedway replaces the one-day show
originally scheduled for Fayetteville Motorsports Park in Fayetteville,
Two promoters that have promoted UDTRA in the past tried to secure a date
for the Fayetteville track, but neither promoter could not come to terms
with the track management.
