posted March 11, 2002 09:31 PM David Ashley Tops a 21 Car field of Late Models Sue DuRoy Pike County Speedway March 9, 2002 Odos Robem and Roger Watson shared the Novice heat wins. Watson took the lead on the drop of the green followed by Fred Hastings. Hastings chased the leader down and took over the lead and went on to score the win. Watson took second, Keith Dean worked his way up through the field to finish third. David Petit ran a strong fourth and Dallas Grice rounded out the top five. Davin Bates and Kent Hollingsworth took the heat wins in UMP. Bates led every lap followed by Hollingsworth but couldn't catch Bates. Bates took the win and Hollingsworth second. Jason Taylor ran third till he slipped and Scott Holt got by to finish third. Randy Leonard finished fourth and Billy Collette fifth in an 18 car field. Rusty Cooper took home both heat and feature wins. Cooper led from Green to checkered. Justin Bowman worked his way to second and chased Cooper staying right on him but could make the pass and took second. Terry Lee moved up to finish third, Stephen Polk fourth and Austin Butler fifth.. Todd Rogers and Carl Bourgeois took the street stock heat wins. Rogers led every lap and took the win. Bourgeois chased Roger every lap and finished second. Randy Jamison had a nose under Bougeois every lap in the turns and finished third. On the last lap turn four was a three car pile up causing cars to scramble for positions. Fourth was Tyrone Taylor and fifth went to Austin Butler. Billy Gordon shared hear win with Tim Thornton in Super Stock. On the drop of the green Gordon was the leader. Gordon took the win. Eddie Kerry worked his way through the field to finish second. Arthur Fletcher took third. Tyler Pitts finished fourth and Stephen Thord fifth. Curt Lipsey and Seavy Clemons took the late model heat wins. Curt Lipsey brought the 21 car field of late models to a start wheel to wheel with Seavy Clemons for the lead, by turn two Lipsey had the lead. David Ashley worked his way to second then took the lead over from Lipsey. Ashley went on to score the win, Lipsey second, Dennis Duncan third, Eric Courville fourth and rounding out the top five was David Knight who came up from the middle of the field to finish fifth.
