Shamrock Race Opens This Sat. Night Cleveland Speedway

The 2002 Southern All-Star 7th annual "Shamrock Race" at Cleveland Speedway
(scheduled for this Saturday night March 16th), will see five divisions of
competition, highlighted by the S.A.S. Super Dirt Late Model racecar 60 lap
$5,000 to win feature race. The local area divisions of competition (i.e.
Claimer Late Models, Hobby, Pony Stock and Street) have a special double
format of events on race night. Depending on the amount of racecars per
division each class has the opportunity to run 1 of 2 "A" Main feature
races. "We didn't plan for this last November (the 2001 "Gobbler") and some
good racecars didn't get to race as much as they should" comments track
owner Joe Lee Johnson. "With the possibility of 2 features per division, if
there's enough cars signed in like at the Gobbler, everybody should get an
equal chance for a big win in front of a big crowd." The S.A.S. Super Late
Model portion of the event will remain the same with; "Budweiser: King of
Speed" Qualifying (Locking in the top 16 Qualifiers), "B" Main(s) and the 60
Lap $5,000 to Win "Sonya's Used Cars" sponsored "A" Main race. All normally
run preliminary heat races in the local divisions have been cut to allow for
the possible double races. Racing will begin early with Hot Lap Practice
Sessions at 5PM EST, that's two hours earlier than normal. For more
information, call the track offices at (423)479-8574 during regular business
hours or visit the tracks official web-site
