We did this a long time ago, but there are a lot of new members, and I myself am just recently back from a long vacation. So let's keep the activity going on this board (it's soooooo much nicer here!). Post a little about yourself so we all know who we are talking to!

I'm 42 years young and work as an electronics tech in Cedar Rapids, IA. My current racing connection is just as a fan, although I used to build racing engines several years ago. I kind of like the fan stuff better (I don't get near as dirty!).

Hi Aukland Fan!
I am a photographer/reporter from Indiana and Florida. I have been on the dirt track scene since I was 6 year old. My Dad raced sprint cars. I work at several tracks now and go all over.
I have never raced anything but a go kart until this season when I ran in a Powder Puff.
Now I am going to be a ROOKIE driver in a Bomber next season.
I am very excited about it, my Mom has a different opinion though.
But-It's ALL GOOD!

Anna E. I have been absent for awhile due to work load and travel.Since Sept. 11 ,travel has become a nightmare,I hardly have time for anything. The flight that crashed in New York , was 10 minutes in front of me.I had to catch a bus from New York to Atlanta, and what an experience that was.But I am present and accounted for.I can't wait for race season to start.

I'm Candy, 20 years of age, and I live in Arizona. I work in human resources for a multi-national company.

I grew up around racing and have many close friends (racers) across the country. We've done a lot of traveling to different tracks across the country and have gotten to know several drivers that way. We also have a couple of big shows at our track that draws a lot of out of towners.

Hi! I am 49 year old and I've have been driving and maintaining race cars for seventeen years. I started in C class cars, moved up to sportman class in five years, then moved up to dirt late models in 1993. I support my habit by owning and managing a couple of Snap On Tool Franchises, sell a few race tires, several gallons of racing fuel, manage a mini mall, and lease lodging for duck hunters during hunting season.

Hi, I'm a42 year old youngster living and racing in central Ne. Been around racing for most of my life. Started out racing go-karts,then tried motocross racing .That lasted for about 1 summer. I drag raced for about 12 years. When i went to work nights for a IHC truck dealership myself and 2 others decided to build a bronco or hobby stock car.Caught a lot of flack about racing on the dirt from many of my straight line friends. Needless to say I got the bug real bad, and have never looked back. Just purchased a 92 Shaw Latemodel. Going to race it at our local track next year. Good luck to all in 02.

Caught Dirt Fever this past summer at the Winnebago County Speedway (Simmon's Promotions). I'm 48, own my own industrial pump sales & service business and travel IL, WI, and IA. Concerned that Pecatonica does not show up in the new Simmon's scheule. Also caught 3 UMP shows near Milwaukee. A friend (Matt Shultz #36) runs a Late Model there. Putting a cast iron 430 small block out of his car into my 78 Camaro street car for grins, giggles and lots of noise. Looking to travel to see a few more shows this coming summer. What tracks do you guys recommend in the midwest? Thanks Great Site.

Hi Everyone. I'm a former racer...1970s in Billings Mt and now just a rabid fan...mainly of the DLM's. We are full time RV'ers(live fulltime in a 5th wheel). We winter in Yuma, AZ and anxiously await January races in Casa Grande. We chase racing up north(SD and MT mainly)in the summer and came to Yuma mainly because we thought they had a track here...but unfortunately its closed. Some racing over in Imperial, CA...but not real impressed so far.

Doc recently had a heart attack and i wish him a speedy recovery. The Dirt Track racing world would never be the same without good ole "Doc"!! OK,on another site I use the name "not enuf az lates" because I am originally from Minnesota(ya sure) and had a few more tracks to choose from with weekly late model programs. Not nearly as many here in the Phoenix area.Been a fan since age 6 when the two classes were flathead and overhead(in the sixties).Sprints are ok but lates are the best. I did take in the early thaw,it has a lot of potential, will be going again this sunday.

Hi there,

My name is Chris. I have been away from the Dirt forum for awhile. I will try to get back here a little more often. I got interested in racing when I was real little. Got involved in it in the early 80's helping Dave Birkhofer for a couple years than a few years later, my wife and I started working for Judy Frieden at West Liberty, as my screen name implies, watching the gate by the grandstand which we still do.
