To Whom it May Concern,
I would like to apologize to the fans, sponsors, fellow competitors and
track personnel for my actions on Saturday, March 10, 2001, at the
Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown Indiana. During the heat of the moment,
I let things escalate out of control and for those affected, I am truly
sorry.

My behavior as well as that of my crew members was unprofessional and not
reflective of the attitude and goals of Steve Barnett Racing, Tony Stewart
Motorsports and JD Byrider. We strive to better the sport of dirt late model
racing, promote our sponsors and provide exciting entertainment for the fans.
I sincerely regret that our actions indicated otherwise.

It is incumbent on all of us involved in every level of motorsports to
promote ourselves and our sport as fan friendly and family oriented
entertainment. We need to set a standard of behavior that serves as a role
model for children so parents are excited and enthusiastic to attend the
races and cheer for their favorite driver. I can assure you that my team
will do every thing we can to further that image. Hopefully, our example
will help other teams make positive steps in that direction as well.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the confrontation. I truly regret the
incident and am very thankful no one was injured.

Sincerely,

Steve Barnett
