I need to know your opinions on a weekly payout question. It does not matter what class you run - if you drive or are with a team please VOTE!

***(FANS: your comments are more than welcome, but I want the voting results to reflect driver opinion, so please if you post, indicate you are a FAN...thanks!)

Below are two different payout schedules - I'm interested in knowing which of the two would you rather have in effect?

The purpose of this poll is to determine which DISTRIBUTION you think is better - and why. The actual $$ amounts are, of course not applicable to all classes - they are just a base used as examples. Again, it's which DISTRIBUTION you prefer, and why.

Let's assume also this payout is for a WEEKLY race at a local track (as opposed to a special show) and these payouts are based on a scale, the car count being:
9 cars (minimum) - 20 cars (maximum)
Also assume the division has a full count most weeks (20 cars)

PAY #1:
1st 1000
2nd 600
3rd 400
4th 300
5th 250
6th 200
7th 175
8th 150
9th 125
10th 100
11th 50
12th 50
13th 50
14th 50
15th 50
16th --
17th --
18th --
19th --
20th --

PAY #2:
1st 500
2nd 350
3rd 300
4th 275
5th 250
6th 225
7th 200
8th 175
9th 150
10th 125
11th 100
12th 100
13th 100
14th 100
15th 100
16th 100
17th 100
18th 100
19th 100
20th 100

Vote for #1 or #2 and a brief "why" you prefered that choice.

not a driver so my vote doesn't count, but I work at a couple of tracks as an official/pr guy....

#2 is better since it will bring out the guys on the fringe of being able to compete in the division. A big dog or two might stray away, but they are not necessary for a good show. (I wonder if they will even leave, since the top drivers rely less on purse income than the fringe drivers) More cars will make for a better show for the fans...period. I would go one step further and give the guys who aren't able to start the feature for whatever reason (as long as they made a legitmate attempt) $75 (in this example) tow money.

I am a fan but I am responsible for the distribution of some sponsorship to a driver. In my opinion you would get more quality drivers with the #1 payout. You would get more quantity with the #2 payout. Superior drivers usually have superior equipment so they have to race for the buck. If the pay is half of what another track pays, they will pull to the higher paying track. In plan #2 you will get more cars because the cars that finish 6th thru 20th on a consistent weekly basis will earn more money. The payout for the track will be the same. This would be an easy call for me because I like to see the faster cars run.But for others ,maybe a good close race would be their niche. This is just my opinion and I respect the opinions of those that may differ with mine. Anna E

I'm a driver and the first one would definately grab my attention. We don't have the cars or fan support to pull that kinda money though. Some tracks do.

Being team manager and crew chief for DLM racing team 1 would be the best if it would pay at least $100.00 to start.

The first one would catch my eye, but when I was deciding which track to run the full season I would pick number 2....

We run a weekly schedule at a single track and have never had enough sponsership. So the second one would better suit us. At least it would help to offset the entry and fuel cost. A guanteed $100 is double the $50 in the first one.

Payout No.2 is definately the best for the whole class.
I think any payout that doesn't pay the full field is ridiculous.

I would like #2 because a rookie like me needs all the money I can get.

I'would rather see #2 on a weekly basis. To me the #1 would promote a "Takes money to make money" attitude. However I also believe that special events with high payouts for the top runners spice up the end of a season.

I like #1 if it paid well all the way down, The Cost of racing is way too high for these puiny little purses. How can you expect a racer to use up 600 dollors in tires in a show and use the average 3-5 thousand dollor motor at your track week in and week out without some form to replace them. Yea, I've heard that slogan "We race for fun not money" You can't expect the average Joe to starve just to keep racing, if it's a real show you'll get real cars, period.
