I'm currently fabricating some birdcages to use on our live axle. (we use a sprint car style live axle) I used some old standard style birdcages to get the dimensions from. I placed the radius rods 9" apart, 4-1/2" from the center of the axle to each hole, and the shock mount 6" below the center of the axle and 3-1/2" forward (or rearward) of the center line. Then I noticed that on a pair of TWM birdcages I have place the radius rods 11" apart and the shock about 7" below the center of the axle. The TWM's are the newer of the two sets I have. Anyway my question is how far apart should the radius rods be? If I placed them 11" apart I don't think I could get the angles correct, at least on the bottom rod. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks. TC

All late models use a 9 inch spacing between rods. What brand car you have I can give you the dims for each car as far as shock and 4-link bracket locations!

Early 90's Bullitt chassis. #986 (too early for their records). 9" sounds right but what about those TWM birdcages I have that space the rods 11" apart? They do have 3 holes on top and 3 on the bottom, maybe that's just for options on mounting, not necesarily using the two most outer holes. ??? Right now I plan to use the 9" dimension, that should allow me to maintain a 5deg down angle on both bottom rods and give me some options with the top rod. Thanks, TC
