I have seen both, I think that McCreary has the best DLM tire.

I'm not sure what tire is the best, but most teams seam to like Hoosiers. We are switching to Hoosiers this year. I'll be sure to let you know my opinion on the McCreary HD-65 vs. the Hoosier D-55 LSB. If that is a fair comparison, I know each tire co. makes many different tires.

ran McCreary HD-65 last year, just mounted the Hoosier D55's. The Hoosier definately has a wider contact patch, at least an inch if not more. The rubber compound seems softer.
I believe the McCreary will wear longer but the Hoosier should be faster. Because the contact patch is wider on the Hoosier, the sidewalls balloon out more than the McCreary. It appears that the D55's are more designed for a 14 inch rim as opposed to a 12. This is just my opinion between these models only. With different compounds and tread designs we would find different opinions.

Haven't put a durometer to them, but the old fingernail test indicates the Hoosier is softer.

Just curious, because some of the 0 McCrearys were really soft, we ran a couple on our old Limited car we used to have.

I was just comparing the McCreary HD65 and Hoosier D55. You are correct that both manufacturers develop a wide range of rubber compounds for various conditions.
