I got a new helmet last year for $120. Snell 2000 rated at an ATV shop. It passed inspection at a local SCCA event and it is comfortable. Brand new. Bieffe. $120. Look around, you might find something similar.

Most tracks WILL NOT allow those $100-$150 MOTORCYCLE helmets, they are rated Snell M2000 not SA2000 which is for special application (racing). The M rated helmets are not designed for racing and the have a nylon lining instead of Nomex. Make sure you get the correct one the first time, it may cost more but how much more will you spend when you are forced to buy a SA because the track won't let you run your brand new M helmet.

Good point fordsblow....I guess check the rules. I've never been turned away, even at nationals and like I said SCCA racing events. It's also more of a 4-wheeler helmet.. a bit different than a motorcycle. And I did get the Nomex lining. I didn't find it overnight, but diligence does pay.
