I'll sell you a nice used system. It has Motorola Radius 2 radios, the complete harness for the car, including the button for the steering wheel and the mike boom and ear buds for your helment. There is one radio for your spotter which has a headphone with a mike boom and a remote push to talk button on the headset. I'll even throw in the chargers (12hr) $1100.00 Email me for details. your going to be to busy to be talking on a dang radio just have somebody stand somewhere on the track and give you hand signals. all they would be good for is to tell you if somebody is coming up on you so whats the point.

don't take this the wrong way but the only thing you need to know is whats going on ahead of you and you don't need a radio system for that. those things get all caught up in your arms and you have to push a botton to talk or else it just pics up the engine noise and then they are no good take that 100 and buy a tire and wheel or some fuel or an over haul kit or something

Hey lil6racer, what did you think those walkie talkie helment thingies cost anyway? The price I quoted you is $600.00 off the new price? They come in real handy if you're driving a $20,000.00 late model stock and there's a wreck just around the corner from you. I know for sure that if one of my competitors was running radios this summer, I wouldn't have had to clip MY car! (aprox $2000.00)

Forgive me if I'm being too harsh, but if you're having a hard time seeing the lights around you're track, maybe you should invest in some tear-offs and a new shield before you bother with radio equipment. Those lights are there for a reason, and you shouldn't disregard them.

If the checkard flag is flyin the race is over, Oh BTW, when the white flag is flying there's only one lap left, that should tell you when the checkard is going to be coming out...........and the race is over.
http://www.racingradios.com/RaceKitsNewlook.asp

that $1100 dont sound to bad after looking at the brand new price.

Also if you cant see the flagman It might be wise to pay attention to the other cars out on the track so you dont wind up in some ones back window!! Seen it happen to many times!!! Just remember if your the only one in the class with a helmet radio and you get put in the wall cuz you were blockin etc....
Ask yourself afterwards if it was worth it!

If you are having that much problem seeing lights and the flagman maybe you should bring this up to track officials, I'd rather make the track spend money to fix things than to spend my own money to be able to tell what light is on and if the race is over. What track do you race at? Maybe there are other people on this forum that race with you that are having the same problems, if that's the case get together and go visit the promotor.

i think that a company should make a cheap one way headset. from the track to the car to notify of cautions, resartposition, and debrie on the track. if some one could make a affordable headset and sell them to a track. it would make the racing much safer

u guys need to get real this isnt winston cup and we arent going 200 mph. yes we do spend money on our cars but its the drivers who dont look ahead on the track that get into trouble and cause it. if u cant see the flagman then u probaly cant see the corner or straight for that matter. Try using race optic tear offs. maybe your next suggestion or brain storm will be to put a brake light in the rear of the car so u know when someones slowin down or turning signal. what will people think of next. im just glad i dont racew agianst u if i did id paint my car the brightest color possible and hope u could see it .. rick

His question was where to find a head set not if he should be doing it or not. IF you choose to use some sort of device just tape a small cell phone to your head and see if it works like you hoped.
now my 2 cents
if you concentrated more on making your car FAST than walkie talkies you wouldn't need the dang things in the first place

A lot of tracks in the North East are requiring one way scanners. They are around $100 at Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, etc. The main reason for it is to get the drivers lined back up after cautions rather than having the flagger come down from the flagstand to tell someone that he did not pass that car under green. They will also inform you of cautions and RED FLAGS. Alot of times people do not stop on a red flag for fear of getting plowed into the back of, and they end up driving around to the accident scene blocking it for the emergency vehicles.

IMHO, if a driver needs a spotter to radio him and tell him that the race is over, I think that he SHOULD buy a set of radois. I think he should buy a nice enclosed trailer and a ner toter home to pull it. I think that he should buy matching uniforms for his crew and buy a new dirt late model. I think that he should buy, last but not least, a plane ticket for ME every Saturday night so I can drive the car! I can't hear very well and I don't look so good, but I am able to tell when the race starts and ends.

I have been using hands free cell headset so my wife can tell me what is going on in the heats before me since I am usually stuck in my car waiting for theirs to finish. I try to stay in front so I don't have to worry about mud in the face!

ya know the track i race at has these little round thigs called lights there are 3 of them lined up side by side one red, one green, one yellow, these lights are positioned before the corners of the track, there is also one before the flagstand.these lights show green when the racing surface is clear for racing, yellow when there has been a condition to block part or all the racing surface, and red when the racing surface is unsafe to travel.
now when i am racing i not only watch the flgman but also watch the lights; for when i start in the rear on a restart i am not going to try and look across the track for the flagman, my point is dont just watch for the flagman;also as another post mentiond there is corner help also, just my .05 worth, sorry long winded.

everyone i race against in late models has radios, 2 way type, and the more you spend the better the 600 set isnt as clear as the 1000 etc...

you can make your own for under 100 bucks there was a article on how to do it in circle track or stock car a few months ago.... they arent the best but cheap
