well no one is going to tell you a whole lot anymore atleast not around here anyways i started raceing 5 years ago i learned the hardway and its no fun.i would suggest using a full frame car like malibu or impala or maybe a monte carlo, and from what i have seen alot most guys where i race run 355's and a good gear in your rear end u can be short on power and have a good gear ratio and still run good.i think i would worry more about the handleing before i would the speed,if it dont handle what good is it to be fast no good it defeats the purpose anyway thats my thought hope it helps any more questions ill be glad to give my opion cya and good luck.

I have to agree with ray14, I think a monte carlo would be a good choice, I think a balanced 355 with a good set of heads and intake, a three speed manual transmission and a ford 9inch rearend if allowed, that rearend will allow you to choose the proper gear and you'll be able to run the transmission in high gear, which will gain some horsepower. And definately worry about the handling before anything else. A great handling car with a little motor will pass ill handling cars big motors.
