How far do you go with this? A racer has a business with tow trucks, should he be allowed to race at the track if his business is involved? Should the track owner find another business if the racer races there weekly?

Here is another scenario. Racer, runs cars for an owner. The owner sponsors races. Should the owner's car be allowed to race if the owner sponsors a race?

Just a couple of thoughts...Conflict of interest?..what do you think?

Can be a problem in some cases. At our local track the guy that supplies two wreckers also races in one of the classes. There were several times this year when a questionable calls that went in his favor because the track owner didn't want to rock the boat..... GO FIGURE.....

1.What most tracks need to do with the wrecker is buy their own (ie Cowtown Speedway, Fort Worth Tex.) Used wreckers (old they may be) can be bought reasonable and painted advertising the track. Never registered, never driven on the street.

2.A track owner should never permit a car driven by relitives or sponsored by the track to be operated at the track.

Too much conflict. I,ve seen it time and time again. It tends to create a contraversy even if there is not one.

In DFW, at Kennedale Speedway Park, the race judge's husband runs modifieds and her daughter runs I Stock. Hmmmmmmmm.

The deal I have gotten into at the closest track to me (Plumerville). The owner is the flagman and it is very political. The same **** cars start on the front. He spares the blackflag for some and not for me. A guy hit every car on the track and me twice. I warned him between races and he hit me again. He disabled my car in the feature when I was passing him for the lead. I couldnt put him in the wall because I could barely get into the pits. I decided to give him a tune up with no tools. They come and banned me, again. They should have intervened between races and they didnt. The first time I got banned I won the feature, loaded the car, went and got paid, and drove towards the pit gate and only then did they told me I was being protested. It says plainly in their rulebook that you cant leave the track if you are going to protest. That was after another feature race . They told me they were going to tear me down. I obviously said read your own rulebook. The rules have to go above the pit steward, the flagman, the drivers, the track owners, EVERYONE. That would be a good place to put in a real racetrack.

DMS, we race at plummerville also. I don't see why the guy couldn't run the car but he needs to be treated on the track like everyone else. At NCA Speedway in Yellville,AR one of the sponsors of the track races there and so does his son.
I understand that you are mad at plummerville DMS bc they like to change the rules just for whom ever they feel like it, but it is a nice place to learn. As for where the cars start, first they draw a number at the pit gate just like everyone else at every track, where you finish in you heat is how you line up for feature. We have started in the back many times and yes we have had a few wrecks this past season down there but don't be mad toward the other drivers for what The Murphy' have done to you.

We have two local tracks that have drivers that are family members to track personel or owners. I think it would be very rare not to see some form of favoritism in these situations. I don't like it, but also believe it could be worse than it is. Atleast the flagman(father) did blackflag his son before he hurt someone.

Hey Peddler- That would kinda rule out ole Henry and the Waco Auto Glass huh
OKC9- What you are saying is true. I have seen the McNeils race but have never seen a call that was questonabale, of course I only go to Kennedale a couple of times a year.

One thing that does need to be pointed out is that racers, their family, and freinds are usually what fills the stands and works for the track. There will always be some type of conflict of interest.

My father is our tech inspector, and i have had peeps say things towards me implementing that i'm favored. I'm not in anyway favored, and as at most tracks i would say the amount of professionalism carried upon by the employees and officials is enough to expect no favortism to anyone, family or not.

At our track, the track promoter has two nephews that race in two diff. classes. Not only is he the promoter, but also is in charge of most of the judgment calls that are made. I have seen some questionable calls made in favor of his nephews,& a few times I've seen them get away with some stuff(**** chewings after a race & things like that) that I've seen other drivers get fined or suspended for. The guy is a super promoter & has done a great job of putting our track on the map, but I personally don't feel that he should be making calls on the track.We will have to compete with one of his nephews in a B-Mod class this next season. Although most everyone will be running older mods, they will be running a 2003 chassis.I won't mention the brand, but supposidley(sp)they FLY. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt & assume he will treat everyone fairly.I hope so, we've been friends for a long time.

Way I figure it if guys have a reason to gripe they will, if they want to gripe and have no reason they will create one or do it anyway.

So if GM sponsors the GM Goodwrench 500 in NASCAR should only non-GM cars be allowed to compete ??? doubtful.

I raced a track weekly that the guy that started on the front row of every heat he was in was the flagmans son. I could gripe or just beat him week after week, much more pleasure in winning then making excuses about how fair it was.

If a promotor is gonna play favorites he is gonna do it, just like the teacher in grade school little Johnny got along with when others did not..he was the teachers pet, maybe you should outgrow that at puberty.

That is fine and dandy for the most part, but if a person like this is cheating and the track knows this, then you are going to have to cheat to beat him in most cases if they know somewhat what they are doing. Two wrongs don't make a right.

do like i did beat him legally, then get barred from the track for a look i gave that night. Hard to find fair in racing, but it sure is fun.

Dont get me wrong I think the track (Plumerville) has unlimited potential and I like and do business with most the people that race there. I aint mad at the racers, people will do whatever you let them get away with. Have you noticed the new people that come that havent raced there much do not stay there long? no money, no rules, NO FUN! Track officials need to be a separate entity from the ownership...You dont see Humpy Wheeler flagging at Charlotte do ya.

Talk about a conflict of intrest owner of our track is going to race mods this year hope we dont have a big blow up over this if we do will he just shut the gates for good but wait it gets better his son or dauter is saposed to race hobby stocks this year to. I hope every thing works out. all i whant to do is GET IN SIT DOWN SHUT UP TURN LEFT & HANG ON!!!!!

The track I run seems to be all family and real good friends but I dont think it goes any farther than that. I've seen the tracks president give his son a $200 fine and all points for the night which ended up costing him the championship. But not all tracks are the same. Good luck to all who have to deal with the problem.
