The division makes its first appearances opening nights at Boyd Raceway on March 22 and at Kennedale Speedway Park on March 23. "What we like most about the Hobby Stocks is the uniformity of the rules," Boyd promoter David Plato said. "We're already big fans of IM.C.A.'s Modifieds and Stock Cars." Sanctioned Hobbies also join the I.M.C.A. Sunoco Modifieds at Stock Cars at Kennedale. "You've got to have a good entry-level class like the I.M.C.A. Hobby Stocks, said KSP owner Ronnie Nowell. "It's affordable and it's a good class for beginning drivers to start racing in." Sunoco will sponsor the Friday night opener at Boyd, presenting trophies and contingency awards. Nowell said work on the pit-side stands would be completed for this season. The lip will be taken off the top of the racing surface, making for a single angle from the bottom of the track to the bottom of the wall on the outside
